His and Her Circumstance is a high-school romance anime. I think the thing to emphasize about it is that unlike many similar animes, it is set in a modern, distinctly un-romantic world, and as such is about a couple dealing with fundamentally mundane problems. (Things like studying for tests and their relationships with their family.) Outside of the opening and dream sequences, there's nothing fantastic in this anime.
Despite this, H&HC is a decent show. It's not the most interesting high-school anime I've seen, but it tells decent stories. It's not one of my favorite series, but it's a good one.
This series has a strange animation style, shifting from a classic (if not great) anime style to a manga style frequently. There are also other styles of animation in use, including photocopies of photographs, and one episode where everyone seems to have been animated using paper cut-outs.
This might be expected, as the series was directed by Hidekai Anno, the same guy who did Evangelion. In this series, however, the strange animation made sense, and served to convey ideas rather than concel a lack thereof.
There are two flaws in the series. The first is the huge amount of recapping that went on. Each episode begins with a recap of the series to that point, but it doesn't stop there. No! They felt that a 26 episode series needed a whopping 3 recap episodes, including 2 in a row! That's too much, IMO.
The other flaw is the ending, or rather the lack there of. The series doesn't really end. Instead, it ends by blinking up "To be continued", and then it fails to continue. It just stops there.
Despite these flaws, H&HC is a good series, if not a great one.
