TAB: Tom's Anime Blog

The basic premise of this anime is that, in order to land a job as a teacher at a school that only hires women as teachers, a man is forced to cross-dress. While there, he begins to fall in love with one of the female student, a romance that is forbidden on at least three levels.

One of the reasons I love animation so much is that one can put characters into absurd situations like this without the audience batting an eye. In live-action, I would only see a cross-dressing man, in the anime I can move past that.

What we get is a whole bunch of interesting characters, in interesting situations, as the teacher helps his/her students deal with various issues. All the time, there is the omnipresent danger that his secret will be exposed.

I love shows when I can get into the characters, and IMMSE is one of those shows. This show managed to give me a bunch of characters I'm interested in, characters I actually cared about after a few episodes. It also had a distinct lack of annoying characters, which also helped.

I just finshed watching this show, so I'm not really ready yet to proclaim this a great series, but it's definitely a good one. (I thought I'd never say that about a show about cross-dressing, but this one proved me wrong.)
