Mahou Shoujo Tai (literally something like "Magical Girl Group"), but translated into English as Tweeny Witches, for some unfathomable reason, is a show about Alice, a normal human girl who falls into a world where people can use magic. There, she meets two witch-girls, and finds out that she can do magic (for example, flying on brooms.) She accidentally releases a group of sprites, pokemon-like animals for which catching them all brings some benefit.
In the third episode, Alice and the two witches are charged with releasing the sprites, and sentenced to collect them all. They go off on their quets, pursued by members of the witch council. Alice then gets into a broom race with the bossy witch-girl, which she wins by riding the brook skateboard-style, as riding it the normal way is uncomfortable.
It's hard to judge this series. It has an odd form factor, consisting of 8 minute 30 second long episodes. The animation is beautiful, although one can tell in a few places that it was done on a budget. If we're lucky, the story will turn into a political one, involving the main cast, the witches, and the non-witch people of the world. If we're not lucky, this could turn into a "capture the monster of the week" show, although it hasn't happened yet.
It's hard to give a rating to episodes this short. I'll call it pretty good, which is somewhere between okay and good. I want to see where the series goes. I'll probably wait and batch up a few episodes to watch at once, as an 8-minute episode contains only a few seconds of recap, making it hard to just pick up again.
